Statement from the organisation: death of a participant

With deep sadness, we confirm the death of a participant in the TCS Amsterdam Marathon 2022.

A 56-year-old man from Sheffield, UK, suffered a cardiac arrest only a few meters from the finish line. He received immediate medical treatment and was taken to Amsterdam UMC where for eight days he has been fighting for his life. On Monday October 24, he died in the presence of his daughter. 

Everyone involved in the organisation of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon would like to express sincere condolences to his family and friends.

The family has requested privacy and no further details will be released in accordance with their wishes.
