New fundraising record for KWF Cancer Foundation
The TCS Amsterdam Marathon works with KWF Cancer Foundation to raise as much money as possible for groundbreaking cancer research at Amsterdam UMC’s Cancer Center Amsterdam. In addition to a voluntary contribution during registration, participants could also set up their own action pages via the ‘Run Against Cancer’ platform. The total amount raised was announced today at the Olympic Stadium.
Dorine Manson from KWF and Geert Kazemier from Cancer Center Amsterdam received a record-breaking cheque of €1,305,929. The cheque was presented by René Wit, Race Director of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon, and Josu Devasia, Country Head Netherlands of Tata Consultancy Services.
Dorine Manson, Director of KWF Cancer Foundation: “Nearly 1,900 people laced up their running shoes today for KWF during the TCS Amsterdam Marathon. They have raised an incredible amount, which will go towards groundbreaking research at the Cancer Center Amsterdam. It’s wonderful to see so many people taking action and truly making a difference in the fight against cancer and for life. We are very grateful to the organization, sponsors, volunteers, and all participants.”
