Final course revealed for TCS Amsterdam Marathon Jubilee Edition

Le Champion, organizer of the Platinum Label TCS Amsterdam Marathon, is celebrating a special anniversary this year. As part of the celebration of Amsterdam 750 and the 50th anniversary of the Amsterdam Marathon, the program has been expanded into a full weekend. On Saturday, the 7.5 km run will take place in celebration of Amsterdam 750, and on Sunday, the full and half marathons will be held. A record number of participants will take part in this unforgettable edition. A renewed route through the city center will not be run in 2025. The desire to realize this has been postponed to the 2026 edition.

In the context of 50 years of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon, there has been a lot of work done to develop a renewed course. The center of Amsterdam would again be part of the route, allowing participants to run through Rokin and the famous intersection at Dam Square. However, due to the large pressure on the city in 2025 caused by many events, there is not enough capacity to realize the renewed route this year, and the decision has been postponed to 2026.

"It is important that we create a unique but, above all, safe event together. Not just for the participants but also for the residents. Keeping the current route still means a unique route along typical Amsterdam highlights, such as Vondelpark, the canals, the Rijksmuseum, and the Zuidas – a combination that makes our marathon distinctive," says René Wit, Race Director of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon. "Thanks to the multi-day program, this edition will be experienced as one of the most special marathons so far. What makes this unique is that we are welcoming a record number of 30,000 runners to the full marathon this year. This shows that growth is far from over, and we can continue to develop together."

Le Champion and the City of Amsterdam are working together with all parties involved to explore possibilities for the route in 2026. Updating the route will not only offer the TCS Amsterdam Marathon the historic city center as an additional highlight but also the chance to be run even faster. With constant new developments, the TCS Amsterdam Marathon remains the most attractive sporting event for both national and international runners.
